Product description:

Virkon S is a globally recognized, professional powdered disinfectant. This broad-spectrum product effectively eliminates viruses (including avian influenza and ASF), bacteria, fungi, and other pathogens, ensuring the highest level of biosecurity in poultry, pig, cattle, and other livestock production systems.

Thanks to its unique potassium peroxymonosulfate-based formulation, Virkon S acts rapidly and effectively even at low concentrations (1% solution), in the presence of organic matter, on porous surfaces, and at low temperatures. It is ideal for disinfecting poultry houses, pig units, cattle sheds, farm equipment, animal transport vehicles, drinking water lines, and disinfectant mats. Safe for animals and the environment – fully biodegradable, free from aldehydes and chlorine. Virkon S – bactericidal and virucidal.

Used in outbreaks of serious infectious diseases such as:

• Avian influenza (1% solution)

• African swine fever (ASF) (1% solution)

• Foot-and-mouth disease

Characteristics:

• Fully biodegradable

• Effective at temperatures down to 4°C

• With the addition of glycol, effective even at –10°C (winter conditions)

Directions for use

Routine prophylaxis:
Prepare a 0.5–1% solution (0.5–1 kg of product per 100 L of lukewarm water).

In infectious disease outbreaks:
Use a 2% solution (2 kg of product per 100 L of lukewarm water).

Disinfectant mats:
Use a 0.5–2% working solution. Replace the solution every 2–4 days.

Disinfection of hatching eggs:
Immerse eggs in a 0.5–1% solution.

Why does Virkon S remain number one in poultry farm biosecurity?

In 2023–2026, Virkon S remains the most widely used disinfectant in large broiler and layer farms in Poland and the EU, mainly due to its official DSV (Disease Specific Veterinary) approval for combating avian influenza, Newcastle disease, and ASF. Farmers value its high efficacy even in the presence of heavy organic contamination (litter, manure, feed residues) – a 1% solution works within 10–15 minutes and does not lose activity at pH 6–8.

The product is particularly appreciated during periods of increased ASF and avian influenza risk, when fast and reliable disinfection of animal transport and entry disinfectant mats is required. Regular use (every 7–14 days at 0.5–1%) significantly reduces the number of positive swabs from drinking water lines and equipment, facilitating Salmonella-free certification and compliance with veterinary inspection requirements. This makes Virkon S not only a disinfectant, but a real contributor to improved biological safety and production profitability.
