Description
Virocid – control of infectious disease outbreaks
Effective disinfectant against African swine fever virus, avian influenza, and Salmonella
Product description:
Virocid is a highly concentrated liquid disinfectant with a broad spectrum of activity, specifically recommended in biosecurity programs against African swine fever (ASF) and other dangerous pathogens. Based on a synergistic formulation (quaternary ammonium compounds, glutaraldehyde, isopropanol), it exhibits biocidal activity at low concentrations (from 0.25%), effectively eliminating viruses (including ASF, PRRS, Gumboro disease, classical swine fever, Aujeszky’s disease, Aleutian disease of mink), bacteria (including spores), fungi, and spores.
Designed for professional disinfection of livestock buildings, poultry houses, pig units, hatcheries, farm equipment, animal transport vehicles, disinfectant mats, and wheel dips. It is also highly effective in mushroom farms and empty greenhouses/foil tunnels. Versatile application: spraying, foaming, or fogging – with high penetration even on porous surfaces. Why does Virocid remain one of the most widely used products in poultry farm biosecurity?
In 2023–2026, Virocid remains one of the most commonly used disinfectants in Polish and European broiler and layer farms – mainly due to its official DSV approval for combating ASF, avian influenza, and salmonellosis. Farmers value its high effectiveness even in heavy organic contamination (litter, manure, feed residues) – a 0.5–1% solution acts within 5–10 minutes and does not lose efficacy at pH 6–9 or at low temperatures (even 4–10°C).
The product is particularly recommended during periods of increased ASF and avian influenza risk, when fast and reliable disinfection of transport, disinfectant mats, and drinking water lines is required. Regular use (every 7–14 days at 0.5%) significantly reduces the number of positive swabs from drinking water and equipment, facilitating Salmonella-free status and compliance with veterinary inspection requirements. For many farmers, Virocid is not only a disinfectant, but a key tool for antibiotic reduction and improved production profitability. Virocid – control of infectious disease outbreaks.
